For those who realize the benefits of working with a fitness professional but are unable to commit to regular training sessions, fitness consulting may be the answer for you. If you have the motivation to exercise on your own, but are uncertain of what to do, how much to do or how to do it, Fitness Consulting will lead you on your way toward an informed, independent and fit lifestyle. If, on the other hand, you’re a savvy exerciser but you’re interested in, say, becoming a better runner, Valerie will design a cardio and resistance training program tailored specifically for you. Designed to improve your form, stride and time, and maximize on your ability. Keep in mind that programs should be updated on a biweekly or monthly basis to ensure progression.

As an ACE certified lifestyle and weight-management consultant, and as a graduate student in psychology, Valerie has had training in behavioral psychology, weight management, exercise program design and nutrition. Valerie will listen to your needs and advise accordingly. For instance, if you’ve had a history of battling with your weight, she will first work toward understanding why and then move toward changing those recurring behaviors that have prevented you from achieving your goals. She’ll then set you on a program which will consider caloric intake and energy expenditure, and provide you with a comprehensive program tailored to meet your individual needs and objectives. You are then advised to check in regularly to ensure progression and to communicate your level of satisfaction or simply to have your questions answered.
What will I get?
The first session of the in-depth consultation process will start with a detailed discussion of your exercise history and future fitness goals. A comprehensive fitness assessment will be performed as well. If necessary, a behavioral analysis is done to better understand the patterns of behavior which have prevented you from reaching your goal. The purpose of your first session is to gain all the insight necessary to design the most comprehensive program which will meet your needs most effectively. You and Valerie will then decide together the necessary number of meeting times per month based on the results of your assessment and your personal need.
